photo manipulation
Photography can do a couple of things – capture realistic moments in time or create unreal images from real shots. Photo manipulation is the art of stretching reality a bit. Like this image. Sometimes an image just can’t be created in studio. Think of the plastic surgery and a blue dye we saved.
At the Comic Convention in Calgary we met lots of interesting characters. And what better way to show them off then in a illustrative comic style. Photo effects need to suit the situation and not just the fad.
Sometimes manipulating a photo means just taking away what doesn’t need to be there. Keeping an image simplistic is often the key to a image so the eye concentrates on what you want them to see. Or in the case below, allows us to use the image elsewhere without the background getting in the way. Precise masking and lots of patience (that’s Mark’s department) helps.
